1. Acceptance of Terms & Operating Company

By accessing, browsing, submitting inquiries, or creating a listing on Hire Brighton (the "Platform", available at hirebrighton.trade), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree to all of these terms, you must discontinue your use of the Platform immediately.

The Platform is owned and operated by Webcross Limited, a private limited company registered in England and Wales under Company Registration Number 10105371, with registered office at S15, The Catalyst, Baird Lane, York, England, YO10 5GA (Incorporated 2016).

2. Nature of the Platform & Directory Service

Hire Brighton operates exclusively as an introductory discovery and advertising platform. Our service connects property owners and consumers in Greater Brighton and Hove with independent third-party tradespeople and businesses.

3. Homeowner & Consumer Inquiries (Free Quotes)

Submitting quote requests and job inquiries through the Platform is 100% free for homeowners and property managers. When you submit an inquiry:

• You agree to provide accurate, honest, and up-to-date descriptions of the work required and your contact details.
• You understand that submitting an inquiry does not create an obligation on any tradesperson to quote or perform work, nor does it obligate you to accept any quote received.
• Any quote, estimate, consultation, or pricing given by a tradesperson is strictly an agreement between you and that tradesperson.

4. Tradesperson Listings & Verification Standards

HireUK implements a multi-stage verification framework across its regional directory platform:

• Baseline Directory Listings (Verified Local Listing): Publicly indexed business records are screened for active Google Business Profile verification, active contact details, confirmed local postal district coverage (Option A geographical mapping), and UK registry existence. These listings indicate verified operational presence in the locality.
• Claimed & Managed Listings (Verified Business Owner): When a business proprietor claims their profile via our Trade Portal, we verify their identity, authority, and official company registration (Companies House number or UTR). Only actively managed, confirmed profiles are awarded the "Verified Business Owner" member status.
• Trade Accreditations & Badging: Regulatory accreditations (including Gas Safe Register, NICEIC, NAPIT, or FENSA) are displayed on profiles when confirmed by the business.
• Independent Homeowner Due Diligence: Homeowners are always advised to perform their own routine checks, including inspecting current physical trade licenses, Gas Safe ID cards, and public liability insurance certificates before commissioning high-value or statutory works.
• Accuracy of Profiles: Tradespeople are solely responsible for ensuring their profiles, trading names, contact numbers, and advertised services remain accurate and compliant with the Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading Regulations 2008.

5. Customer-Tradesperson Contracts & Financial Transactions

All contracts for trade works, building renovations, repairs, warranties, and payments are strictly between the customer and the selected tradesperson.

Hire Brighton does not hold escrow, collect job payments, or act as a guarantor for any building works. We are not liable for any disputes, delays, damages, defective workmanship, or financial losses arising from agreements between customers and tradespeople.

6. Customer Reviews & Community Guidelines

Users who submit reviews regarding a tradesperson's service agree that:

• The review reflects a genuine first-hand experience with that business or contractor.
• The review does not contain defamatory, abusive, offensive, or racially discriminatory language.
• Reviews must not be used as blackmail or extortion for discounts or financial leverage.
• We reserve the right to remove, flag, or investigate any reviews that violate our community policies or applicable UK defamation laws.

7. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Hire Brighton, its operators, directors, and affiliates shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or exemplary damages, loss of profits, loss of data, property damage, or personal injury resulting from your access to or inability to use the Platform, or your engagement of any contractor discovered on the Platform.

8. Governing Law & Jurisdiction

These Terms of Service shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales (or the laws of Scotland or Northern Ireland where applicable based on site territory). Any dispute arising under these terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the relevant UK courts.
