"We are exceptionally pleased with the end result and the overall build quality of our loft conversion. Jay and his dad Mick are true experts in their craft and their attention to detail really shows in the final finish. Jay was onsite every day, which made it very easy to manage the build with him. He was always on hand to answer any questions and also found clever ways to enhance the original drawings during construction to help maximise the available space. His communication was excellent throughout. He always responded quickly and kept us fully updated on the progress of the work. The tradesmen Jay uses are great too. They respected our home, worked tidily and completed everything to a very high standard. A special mention goes to Chris the plasterer. The quality of his finish is outstanding, with perfectly smooth walls and ceilings. Even our decorator praised the plastering and said it made his job much easier. We will definitely be using Chris again for any future plastering work. As with any build, a few small issues came up along the way, but Jay dealt with them immediately and with real care. He was proactive and always made sure everything was put right. This gave us a lot of reassurance, especially as we have experienced poor workmanship from other builders in the past. Jay’s quote for the build was accurate and honest from the beginning. The build was completed within the timeframe agreed and there were no extra or unexpected costs. What we agreed at the start is exactly what we paid. We highly recommend Oakwood Lofts. Jay is respectful, professional and genuinely honest. We will definitely be using his services again in the future and would not hesitate to recommend him to anyone considering a loft conversion."

"We’re over the moon with our new loft conversion thanks to Jay and Mick at Oakwood Lofts. Perhaps unusually we (mid terraced house) had our loft conversion done at the same time as next door, allowing for some additional space to be created inside and the sharing of scaffold, skips and deliveries, it also meant the sharing of ideas with our neighbours as the project unfolded. Jay settled any worries we had about internal mess, and for the bulk of the project accessed the loft via the scaffold, meaning we could live our lives as normal inside the house. The excitement of the stairs and being able to see the loft converted for the first time was like Christmas as a kid!! Whilst we’d seen the detailed plans and engineers drawings nothing compares to seeing it all with your own eyes. The fitting of the stairs was probably the biggest disruption, but these have been installed almost seamlessly, and feel like they belong in the property already. We’ve ended up with a huge new bedroom and a large en suite shower room - it’s like staying in a hotel every night! Jay was accommodating of mid-project spec changes (additional plugs and ceiling fan) and worked with us to try and match period style doors and fitted the Bakelite door handles we sourced trying to keep some of the 1930s elements in the newly built loft. The contractors we had in for plumbing, electrics and plastering were all friendly and courteous, and we felt at ease leaving them in our home if we were at work or going out. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Jay and Oakwood Lofts to convert your loft, they clearly have a lot of experience doing this and build each project as they would their own, to a very high standard. That just left us to decorate throughout, tile the bathroom and have the flooring installed. In a time when moving house is so expensive this was the best choice for us to future proof our property as our children grow up and require more space for themselves, and as a secondary result our box room is now a fantastic office space for home working."

"Jay, Mick and various contractors have not long finished a dorma loft conversion on ours and a neighbour's property. The end product and quality of work is excellent, particularly the carpentry work carried out by Mick, and we have ended up with more space than envisaged. Communication on the whole was good, any changes we required during the build were accommodated and there were no expenses not quoted for. All the contractors were polite, tidy and hard working often putting in long hours. The overall project took slightly longer than planned and there were a few occasions with the contractors when we weren't sure if they would be carrying out work that particular day or not but to be honest this type of thing is to be expected with a project of this scale and the end result was worth the time, cost and any minor inconveniences along the way. I would say the total cost was a fair price for the quality of work. I found Jay, Mick and the contractors to be trustworthy and polite, which is particularly important with young children at home during the building work. I would certainly recommend Oakwood Lofts and would use them again in the future for any similar work."
